The One and Only Ivan is a book based off a true story. I would recommend this book for 3rd grade up to 6th grade. This book is about a gorilla named Ian. He was living a good and happy life in the wild until humans came and took him and killed his family. They took them in a van and harmed them. Luckily, Ivan was able to escape. Then, began Ivan’s life. Ivan was adopted by a man named Mack. He lived like a baby human inside Mack’s home. Ivan had to move because he got too huge to Mack’s home. Then they brought him to a tiny domain in the Big Top Mall.
The One and Only Ivan is a book about friendship. Ivan never gives up. Ivan has a best friend named Stella. She died one day. Then a new elephant came to the Big Top Mall. Her name was Ruby. Ivan had to face taking care of this new elephant and try to get out! I don’t want to spoil it for you. Find out what happens in The One and Only Ivan.
